The Lincolnshire Coast

The Lincolnshire coast is one of the few places left in Britain where you can experience a peaceful feeling of tranquility coupled with traditional seaside resorts such as Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Mablethorpe and Skegness.

All with large areas of clean sandy beaches and hosting a variety of attractions from the traditional seaside amusement arcades to The Discovery centre, Deep Sea Experience and Pleasure Island in Cleethorpes; The National Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby; the Seal Sanctury and funfair and Mablethorpe, and of course there is the thriving resort on Skegness in the southeast of the county. We must not forget the city of Hull, only 40 minutes away over the Humber Bridge. This boasts a whole host of attractions and entertainment including The Deep where visitors can come face-to-face with ocean life from the world's only underwater lift and Europe's deepest viewing tunnel.

A Seal pup at Donna Nook
There are a large number of designated wildlife areas which are run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and are situated all over the county. For further information please go to Lincolnshire Trust.

There is also Donna Nook, situated on the coast off the A1031 and it is one of the most accessible sites in the UK for seeing seals at breeding time. It is a short ride from Louth to the beach and the seals are there in late autumn and early winter.
